SW20 Front Trunk Prop Rod Kit Installation Instructions
Your kit will consist of the following items:
2x hydraulic prop rods w/ installation hardware pre-installed
To install:
1. Pop front trunk and secure with stock prop rod (this is the last
time you will use it!)
2. Locate and remove the top-most bolt from the lid hinge. Replace the
removed bolt with one of the large ball stud bolts from the install bag. This is the body end, not the rod end. Also the "nut
flange" on the proper ball stud bolt will be approx. a 17mm size
socket. If you choose the wrong one it will just slide in and not
screw. If this is the case, remove and try with the other ball stud
bolt. Once installed it will look similar to this:

3. Locate and remove the 10mm bolt second from front on fender. Replace
this with the other, smaller, ball stud bolt. It should look like this
when installed:

4. Remove the 10mm bolt next to the strut mount on the fender and replace bolt with the low head nylon bolt provided in the install kit.
Repeat on the opposite side.
5. Remove the safety clip from the ball joint socket if so
equipped.
6. Place the large, body, end on the hinge ball stud bolt and replace
the safety clip if so equipped.
7. Place the small, rod, end on the fender ball stud bolt and replace
the safety clip if so equipped.
8. If you so wish, you may remove the stock prop rod. The top quality
hydraulic rods are designed to last many many years and are virtually
maintenance free.
*NOTE: some adjustment may be needed once top lid hing bolt is removed
to keep the lid flush once closed. This is usually not a
problem, being careful not to move the hinge placement when
tightening
the ball stud bolt is usually enough to keep this from happeneing.
